DocuSign Commits to Net-Zero Emissions by 2050

DocuSign reached carbon neutrality across operations in 2022

We are excited to announce that DocuSign has signed onto the Science Based Targets Initative’s (SBTi) Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign. As part of the pledge, DocuSign is committing to halving its emissions by 2030 and reaching science-based net-zero no later than 2050.

The SBTi goals represent the highest level of ambition for emissions reduction in both the near and long term. We will be submitting our plan to SBTi this year for official validation.

“The world’s climate experts agree the onus is on corporations, like DocuSign, to take bold and immediate action to curb the worst effects of climate change,” said Dan Springer, CEO, DocuSign. “A commitment to climate action is in our DNA through initiatives like DocuSign for Forests, and today we take our commitments a step further by signing on to the highest standard among the world’s leading and most forward thinking companies.”

DocuSign’s commitment to reduce emissions builds upon their DocuSign for Forests efforts launched in 2019. Through strategic investment in high quality REDD+ and Verra verified carbon offset projects focused on preventing deforestation and supporting reforestation, DocuSign reached carbon neutrality in 2022.

“Making DocuSign one of the most environmentally friendly companies on the planet has been a commitment of mine since joining DocuSign. Our DocuSign for Forests commitment included a plan to become Carbon Neutral in 2022 and today I’m thrilled to announce that we have achieved that goal. However our work doesn’t end there, we must do more and we will. It’s the right thing to do for our planet and our business,” closed Springer.

In its journey to reach science-based net zero emissions, DocuSign will also continue its DocuSign for Forests initiatives in partnership with leading non profits around the world who are protecting and restoring the world's forests, as well as supporting our customers on their own sustainability journeys.

The DocuSign for Forests initiative has been a key piece of DocuSign’s ongoing commitment to change. Since its inception, the company has saved more than 6 million trees, 55 billion sheets of paper, nearly 6 billion gallons of water and eliminated more than 326 million pounds of waste to date.
