Our “Employee Spotlight” blog series places the spotlight on DocuSign employees based in Australia who tell us about why they decided to join DocuSign, what they do here, how working in Australia is and more. At DocuSign, we want employees to look back at their time here and say they did the work of their life at DocuSign. This week we sat down with Stephanie Watson in Sales based in Sydney to learn more about her career.

What do you do at DocuSign and what do you enjoy most about your role?

I am an Account Executive for SMB across all New Zealand.

Is it too cliché to say I enjoy every aspect of my role?! If I have to break it down to a few key parts of I thrive in;

• Helping organisations to do business faster, with less risk and going through the journey of working with them from a manual process to digital and seeing the results happen and the effect it has on their business is extremely rewarding.
• The challenge – every day I find myself searching for an answer, some new information to learn. I also need to think laterally about how I work and be successful.
• The autonomy – knowing I am trusted enough to work on my own merit and to what suits me best is incredibly important for me.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in Sales?

I’m naturally a very curious thinker, I always like to know why one thing effects another. I also have a very reward focus mind set and can talk underwater which helps!

I gained a lot of learnings from my previous roles away from Sales that I truly enjoy the element of understanding a business’s position to various challenges they face and how that can be solved through using the art of conversation to align the right solution and strategy.

What made you decide to work at DocuSign?

Prior to DocuSign, I was in recruitment, with DocuSign being one of my clients. I spoke often to candidates about the culture and opportunities at the company, describing these as career and life changing roles. I also had the pleasure of seeing my candidates that I successfully placed move up the ranks and develop professionally.

I started thinking about my next step in my career and was looking for a company that I would have the opportunity to spread my wings and see how many challenges I can take on.

I naturally looked at DocuSign and it had always been my first choice. I reached out and the rest is history! 

What is the best part about working at DocuSign in Sydney?

Prior to Covid-19 one of my absolute favourite parts of working in Sydney is being so close the botanical gardens. Having the ability to go for a run through greenery in the morning or sunbathe in sunshine during a lunch break is priceless!

How is working at DocuSign different than other companies you have worked at?

The genuine care that the business carries for their employees is something that seriously sets DocuSign apart. There is so much investment in our futures and growth as professionals, through education, training and exposure.

Working at DocuSign doesn’t compare to my other companies, because I have never worked in an environment where I feel so unbelievably nurtured in every aspect of my role and career. 

This was reinforced through the whole pandemic as the business continues to make a significant effort in ensuring our happiness and health working from home and enabling us to continue being successful.

Our CEO says he wants everybody to say they did the work of their life at DocuSign. What does “doing the work of your life” look like for you?

Exactly what I’m doing day-in, day-out feels like the work of my life. I am constantly stopping in my mind and having the thought; ‘wow, I can’t believe I achieved that’.

The concept of ‘work of my life’ will continuously change as I grow with responsibility and I’m excited to see how my future will progress with DocuSign to further realise my potential as I’m only just beginning.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying for a role at DocuSign?

I cannot stress enough how remarkable the culture, the company and the solutions are to be immersed in. DocuSign has changed the entire trajectory of my life, and career. Don’t hesitate to apply and take a step you’ll thank yourself for, forever.

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.

I ride super sports motorbikes and am in training to do an amateur Muay Thai fight !
